David N. Lyon Partner

David began his law career in 2012 as a clerk to the Honorable J. Michelle Childs, United States District Court Judge for the District of South Carolina, where he gained valuable knowledge and experience in federal substantive law and trial practice. Prior to joining Duff Freeman Lyon, David served as a staff attorney at the South Carolina Court of Appeals, a position which afforded him an opportunity to research and write extensively on South Carolina substantive, procedural, and administrative law, while gaining in-depth knowledge of Appellate practice and procedure.  David practices in all areas of the firm’s representation of its clients, with a focus on personnel and employment matters. His interests include, employment law, anti-discrimination law, and first amendment law.

David graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law, cum laude, and was a member of the Order of the Coif and Order of the Wig and Robe.  Before attending law school, David worked as a public radio producer at South Carolina ETV.  David is a proud alumni of Furman University and enjoys tennis, cooking, and playing the guitar.  He also volunteers with the United Way, and serves on the South Carolina Bar Association’s Education Law Committee.
